Presbyond Laser Blended Vision
in Sydney

If you have noticed your vision changing, especially when reading or focusing on close-up tasks, you may be experiencing presbyopia. This is a natural age-related change that affects how your eyes focus up close.

Presbyond Laser Blended Vision is a laser vision correction treatment designed to reduce dependence on reading glasses by supporting clearer vision across near, intermediate and distance ranges. At Vision Clinic Sydney, Presbyond laser-blended vision is offered as part of our personalised, technology-led approach to vision correction.

What is Presbyond Laser Blended Vision

Presbyond Laser Blended Vision is a type of laser vision correction designed for people with presbyopia, a condition in which the eye gradually loses its ability to focus on close-up objects. This commonly makes tasks such as reading, using a phone or working at a computer more difficult without reading glasses.

The treatment works by gently adjusting each eye in a slightly different way. One eye is guided more towards distance vision, while the other is guided more towards close-up vision. Unlike traditional monovision, the procedure creates an overlap between the two, allowing the brain to combine the images into a more balanced visual result.

This “blended” approach is designed to support clearer vision across near, intermediate and distance ranges, while helping the transition between distances feel more natural for suitable patients.

Benefits of Presbyond Laser Blended Vision

This procedure may offer several benefits for people who want to reduce their reliance on reading glasses, depending on their prescription, eye health and suitability for treatment.

Clearer vision across different distances

Presbyond laser-blended vision is designed to support vision across a range of distances, from close-up tasks such as reading, to intermediate tasks such as computer work, and distance tasks such as driving.

Reduced reliance on reading glasses

The procedure may reduce the need for reading glasses in everyday life. However, some patients may still need glasses for very fine print, extended reading or certain low-light situations.

Treatment of other vision concerns

For suitable patients, Presbyond may also address short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism alongside presbyopia.

A blended approach to vision correction

Presbyond is designed to help both eyes work together across different distances. It creates a smoother overlap between near and distance vision, which may help the transition between visual tasks feel more comfortable.

Treatment tailored to your needs

Presbyond is planned around your prescription, eye shape and visual needs, with the aim of supporting a more personalised vision correction outcome.

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Presbyond Laser Blended Vision?

Presbyond Laser Blended Vision may be suitable for people with presbyopia who would like to reduce their reliance on reading glasses. It is often considered for patients who find close-up tasks, such as reading or using a phone, more difficult than they used to.

You may be a suitable candidate if you:

  • Have presbyopia or difficulty focusing on close-up tasks
  • Have stable vision and generally healthy eyes
  • Want to reduce your reliance on reading glasses
  • Have short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism alongside presbyopia
  • Are looking for a laser vision correction option tailored to your visual needs

Certain eye conditions, including significant cataracts, dry eye disease or corneal concerns, may affect your suitability for treatment. The only way to know whether Presbyond is appropriate for you is through a comprehensive eye assessment.

At Vision Clinic Sydney, your consultation includes detailed diagnostic testing, a review of your eye health and a discussion about your lifestyle and vision goals. This allows Dr Kumar to determine whether Presbyond is the most suitable option for you, or whether another treatment may be more appropriate.

How is Presbyond Laser Blended Vision
Different from Other Laser Eye Surgeries?

Many laser eye procedures, such as LASIK or SMILE, are commonly used to correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism. These treatments usually aim to improve distance vision by correcting both eyes similarly.
Presbyond Laser Blended Vision is different because it is designed for people with presbyopia, where close-up focusing becomes more difficult over time. Instead of correcting both eyes for distance only, Presbyond creates a customised blend between the two eyes. One eye is slightly more adjusted for distance vision, while the other is slightly more adjusted for near vision.

How is Presbyond Laser Blended Vision Performed at Vision Clinic Sydney?

Presbyond is performed as a laser procedure and does not usually require an overnight stay. Before treatment, your eyes are carefully assessed and mapped so Dr Kumar can plan the procedure based on your prescription, eye shape, and visual requirements.

On the day of treatment, anaesthetic eye drops are used to numb the eyes and help keep you comfortable. A laser is then used to carefully reshape the cornea of each eye, creating a customised blend between near, intermediate and distance vision.

The laser treatment itself usually takes only a short time per eye. After the procedure, you will be given clear aftercare instructions and will need someone to take you home.

Recovery After Presbyond Laser Blended Vision

Recovery after Presbyond varies from person to person, but many patients can return to everyday activities within a few days. It is normal to experience some dryness, light sensitivity or changes in vision during the early healing period.

Your vision may continue to settle over several weeks as your eyes heal, and your brain adapts to the blended vision effect. Some patients notice improvement quickly, while others require more time for their vision to stabilise.

Dr Kumar will provide personalised aftercare instructions and arrange follow-up appointments to monitor your recovery. These appointments are important for checking your healing, managing any symptoms and ensuring your vision is progressing as expected.

How Much Does Presbyond Laser Blended Vision Cost in Sydney?

The cost of Presbyond Laser Blended Vision can vary depending on your prescription, eye health, treatment plan and individual needs. For this reason, the most accurate way to understand the cost of your procedure is to book an initial consultation at Vision Clinic Sydney.

During your consultation, Dr Kumar will assess your eyes, discuss your suitability and provide a clear explanation of the recommended treatment and associated fees.

FAQs

Below you can find our most frequently asked questions:

Presbyond uses laser technology to adjust each eye slightly differently. One eye is guided more towards distance vision, while the other is guided more towards close-up vision. This creates a blended range of focus, allowing the eyes to work together across near, intermediate and distance vision.

Presbyond is designed to treat presbyopia, a condition in which the eye gradually loses its ability to focus clearly on close-up objects. For suitable patients, it may also correct short-sightedness, long-sightedness and astigmatism as part of the same treatment plan.

Presbyond may be suitable for people experiencing presbyopia who want to reduce their reliance on reading glasses. Good candidates typically have stable vision, healthy eyes and no eye conditions that would make laser treatment unsuitable. A comprehensive eye assessment is needed to confirm whether Presbyond is appropriate for you.

Presbyond may reduce your dependence on reading glasses for many everyday tasks. However, results vary between individuals, and some patients may still need glasses for very fine print, extended reading or certain low-light situations.

The corneal reshaping performed during Presbyond is intended to be permanent. However, your eyes can still change naturally over time, including the possible development of cataracts or other age-related eye conditions.

The laser treatment usually takes only a few minutes per eye. You should allow additional time at the clinic for preparation, checks and aftercare instructions on the day of your procedure.

Anaesthetic eye drops are used to numb the eyes before treatment, so the procedure itself is usually well tolerated. Some patients may experience mild irritation, dryness, watering or light sensitivity afterwards, which typically improves as the eyes heal.

Presbyond may not be the most appropriate treatment if you have significant cataracts. In these cases, cataract surgery with a suitable lens option may be more appropriate. Your surgeon will assess your eyes and recommend the treatment best suited to your needs.

Yes, Presbyond may be able to correct astigmatism alongside presbyopia, short-sightedness or long-sightedness. This depends on your prescription, corneal shape and overall eye health.

Pterygium Treatment Pterygium Excision with Conjunctival Auto-grafting

In this procedure, the pterygium is removed along with the tissue covering the sclera (conjunctiva). Tissue is removed from the patient’s upper conjunctiva and used to cover the bare sclera. Dr. Kumar advocates the use of fibrin glue rather than sutures to fix the autoconjunctival graft into place.
